Pilates People –
Here we are over one week in to this corona-quarantine, and my desire to cue someone’s (anyone’s!) pelvic position is nearly overwhelming. Hard to believe, but if I run around my house telling my people to “get their ribs out of their pelvises” they do not respond with laughter. *sigh*. There are Pilates props littering most of my floor surfaces, but I’m really the only one who uses them in a way I would call “appropriately”. My son is a BIG fan of wielding the foam roller like a sword, and the balls are really great for trying to off one’s sibling when he/she leasts expects it.
You all know me well enough to know that I’m a simple movement evangelist. I don’t think these exceptional times call for anything more than what we already know how to do. Aside from Pilates work, I’ve been going for walks and hikes. I’ve been jumping on our small trampoline in the living room (it’s been getting a workout from the kids as well.). I’ve been trying to do some gardening in the muck. It never ceases to amaze me how basic movement and being outside are absolute game-changers for my mood and anxieties.
I’ve created this site as a way for us to stay connected. Please feel free to comment. It is a work in progress, and I’ll take any suggestions on how to improve it. After this week’s Stay at Home order for Columbia was released, it looks like we are going to be out of the studio until at least 4/24/20. Hopefully, this site will give us a forum to keep up our Pilates work until we are together again.
